The Merriam-Webster dictionary describes a bridge as “a structure carrying a pathway or roadway over a depression or obstacle”. It is a structure built to span a physical obstacle (such as a body of water, valley, road, or rail) without blocking the way underneath. 

Bridges are also, essential assets to society and the functioning of people’s lives; and are built to last and heavily relied upon.
